Illinois November 2026 Ballot Guide
Illinois has no statewide questions on the November 3, 2026 ballot. Here is why, the local question many Cook County voters will see, and the dates you need to vote.
Election Day: November 3, 2026. No statewide measures are on the ballot. Official information last checked against the Illinois State Board of Elections on September 24, 2026.
Voting in Illinois
- Register by
- Regular registration closes Tuesday, October 6, and online registration closes Sunday, October 18.
- Grace period registration
- From October 7 through Election Day, you can register and vote at the same time at your election authority’s office or another designated site, and in many counties at your polling place on Election Day.
- Vote by mail
- Ballots began going out September 24. Requests sent by mail must be received by your election authority by Thursday, October 29.
- Early voting
- September 24 through Monday, November 2. No reason is needed.

The Illinois State Board of Elections lists no statewide questions for the November 3, 2026 general election. Two proposed constitutional amendments did not make this ballot: a millionaire’s tax amendment missed the May 3 deadline, and the Senate set aside a redistricting amendment in April after a U.S. Supreme Court voting rights ruling. Local questions may still appear on your ballot. In Cook County, every ballot will include a non-binding advisory question, approved by the County Board, asking whether Illinois should adopt a 3% income tax surcharge on millionaires, with half the money going to property tax relief and half to public schools. Your county clerk or local election authority can tell you what else is on your ballot.
